Description
The landscape rolls like swells on a neon sea from old lava flows that rolled down from Fimmvorduhals pass. I encountered this site as I reached the north end of Iceland's famous Fimmvorduhals trail. Along the way I had the privileged of crossing directly over the eruption craters of the infamous 2010 Eyjafjallajokull eruption (although, at the time, the landscape was largely obscured by dense clouds and driving wind).
