Artist's Description

I had come to Iceland having done very little research. I was not even able to find a decent map of the Fimmvorduhals trail that I had come to hike. Perhaps in part because of this, the beginning of my hike left me utterly speechless. I simply was not prepared for what I was about to be immersed in. It seemed that the hike was laid out so that each new canyon or waterfall was more stunning than the last. This shot is of one of my favorites. The water plunged out of sight below while mist billowed up from the roaring depths. Of course I wasted no time scurrying around and standing on the edge of the precipitous drop, grinning from ear to ear. The Fimmvorduhals trail is a nearly 20 mile trail that crosses between Eyjafjallajokull and Myrdalsjokull glaciers and directly over the craters of the infamous 2010 Eyjafjallajokull eruption.
